History of the Drama Club
The Drama Club at St. Helen was conceived by the students in a seventh grade language arts class during the 2006-2007 school year. That year, the sixth graders wrote and produced one play entitled "The Case of the Missing Candlesticks." We were hooked! The next fall, during the 2007-2008 school year, the students expanded their Drama Club to include all students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. After attending a musical at Zion Lutheran School, the Drama Club decided they could do more. They worked together to produce the student written play, Beyond the Beanstalk. In the spring of the 2007-2008 school year, the Drama Club produced their first off, off, Broadway production Pirate Island, the Musical. The musical was a great success because of the efforts of the middle school faculty, the art teacher, the music teacher and all of the middle school parents. The drama club performed Into the Woods in May, 2009.
